Graduation Requirements

Students need 28 TOTAL credits to graduate from Tonganoxie High School.  

13 of those credits are required and the remaining are elective credits.  

English

3 of the following credits: 

  • Algebra I

  • Geometry

  • Algebra II

  • Any class with Algebra II as a pre-req.

Science

3 of the following credits: 

  • Biology

  • Advanced Biology

  • Earth/Space Science

  • Chemistry

Social Studies

3 Required Credits

  • 1 Credit of World History

  • 1 credit of American History

  • 0.5 Credits of US Government

  • 0.5 Credits of a Social Studies Electives

-Complete the Pre-College curriculum above with at least a 2.0 GPA and
-Achieve an ACT score of 21 or higher or SAT score of 980 or higher
or
-Rank in the top 1/3 of the high school graduating class and
-Achieve a 2.0 of higher GPA on any college credit taken in high school

Some courses require an application.  Attached you'll find the common application and the list of courses you need to apply for.  Please fill out one application for each course that you are applying for.  Drop your application off at either the east or west campus!

Students can earn dual credit for courses offered at THS through KCKCC. 

Here is the process for FIRST TIME ENROLLERS: 

  1. The student must apply for admission online to KCKCC www.kckcc.edu/Apply.  Once the application has been accepted, the student will receive a student ID.

  2. Take the Accuplacer Test either at THS (on April 20th) or at KCKCC in the Jewel building. No appointment necessary.​ A current photo I.D. and a KCKCC I.D. are required to be able to take the test.

  3. Submit ALL scores to Mrs. George in the EAST campus.  Please keep in mind that a student must have a certain score on the placement test in order to enroll.

  4. Please complete the KCKCC Enrollment Form (see link to the left). Enrollment form MUST be turned into Mrs. George in the EAST CAMPUS.​

If you have already taken dual credit courses: 

  1. Please complete this form (link to the left) to enroll and submit it to Mrs. George in the EAST CAMPUS.

During their junior and senior years, students have the opportunity to attend a local technical school.

accuplacer Test

Students enrolling in Dual Enrollment or for Tech School are required to either take the Accuplacer or the ACT.    

This year students will have a unique opportunity to take the Accuplacer Test at Tonganoxie High School.  The test will be held on Friday, April 20th.  If you are not able to make that test date, you'll need to take it on the KCKCC campus.

The testing center is located on the main KCKCC campus in the Jewel Building.  You do NOT need an appointment and the testing times are as follows:

Monday - Thursday:    8am - 6pm

Friday:                      8am - 4:30pm

          (SUMMER HOURS MAY VARY!)

Senior Agreement

Senior interested in senior agreement must get permission from parent/guardian, the counselor and an administrator.  Senior Agreement would allow for early dismissal or late start from school to pursue an after-school job, post-secondary education or an internship.  Seniors must be on track to graduate, be able to provide their own transportation and have their senior portfolio completed.  Please see the attached document for additional information and complete and return the application to either Mrs. George or Mrs. Martin.  Applications are dealt with on a case-by-case basis and you may be denied your request for Senior Agreement depending on what the committee determines necessary for your successful completion of the graduation requirements as set forth by the Tonganoxie School Board.  Please see a counselor or administrator for more information.
